Brakes Out!

Pick a town

How to play

• No brakes, all downhill: the steeper the street, the faster you go. All you can do is steer.
• Steer: hold the ◀ and ▶ buttons, or pick Tilt and tilt your device. On a computer use the arrow keys (A and D work too).
• Pick a street: a green sign before every intersection names the street left, straight on and right. Be on the left or right of the road as you cross to turn; stay in the middle to go straight. ⛰️ steep streets are fast, ⛽ fuel streets have lots of fuel cans, 📦 box streets are flat and full of boxes.
• Fuel: the gauge top left keeps the engine running. Grab the red cans to fill it.
• Bumps cost fuel: market stalls, fruit carts, cones, hydrants, cars and buses. The bigger the thing, the more fuel you lose, and it slows you down.
• Never stop: out of fuel, only a steep hill keeps you rolling. If the car comes to a complete stop, it explodes.
• Honk: tap HORN (or Space) and everyone crossing ahead dives for the curb. Anyone you miss tumbles away like a cartoon, never hurt, but it costs fuel.
• Points: distance, smashed boxes, fuel cans, and near misses (25 each). Fuel left at the finish pays 5 a drop.
• Medals: reach Mattress Mountain for bronze, silver with two bumps at most, gold with none.
